Shadow is a projector-based interactive typographic installation, built with Unity. Using a MPU 6050 gyroscope sensor and nRF24L01 modules, I made a device that can be strapped to my wrist that acts as a controller for the responsive text.
The typographic composition becomes distorted as I move my hand, and slowly recover back in place when I rest. In this video, the recorded motions are the gesture of tying and untying knots.
The text is selected from a collection of my own creative nonfiction writings. Originally titled “A Conversation”, the piece makes use of the second person point of view and stream of consciousness, and strings together a series of trivial yet sentimental events with common imageries. The installation aims to involve and engage viewers to experience the emotional turbulence, together with motions that disrupt the narration.
